Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS) is a condition affecting people who have had half or more of their small intestine surgically removed or who have disease affecting the small intestine. The small bowel plays a significant role in nutrient absorption and those with SBS experience malnourishment due to an inadequate absorption of nutrients and fluids.
