NutreStore™ (L-glutamine powder for oral solution) is indicated for the treatment of Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS) in patients receiving specialized nutritional support when used in conjunction with a recombinant human growth hormone that is approved for this indication.
What is Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS)?
SBS is a condition affecting people who have had half or more of their small intestine surgically removed or who have disease affecting the small intestine. The small bowel plays a significant role in nutrient absorption and those with SBS experience malnourishment due to an inadequate absorption of nutrients and fluids.
Symptoms/Complications
Symptoms of SBS include malnutrition, diarrhea, abdominal bloating, fatigue, fat in the stool (steatorrhea), cramping, heartburn, bacterial infections, anemia, depression, gallstones and kidney stones.  Complications of SBS include organ failure due to malnourishment or malnutrition which could lead to death.
